Fire fighters tackle blaze in abandoned Clydebank leisure centre
Crews were rushed to the Play Drome leisure centre in a popular area of Clydebank at 2:20am on Wednesday.
Nine fire engines were called to the building on Chalmers Street to try and tame the blaze, which raised on for hours as residents of Clydebank awoke to find the building still ablaze.
It appeared they had it under control quickly as they made attempts to dampen the smoldering flames.
Only the roof of the building appeared to be black and charred and as the site is no longer occupied it seems there were no injuries or casualties.
Bus services through the area had been affected by road closures due to the fire.
The Play Drome leisure centre had been closed since March of last year and had been earmarked by West Dunbartonshire Council for demolition to make way for a number of shops.
