Bright blue tap water at North Lanarkshire schools

Pupils and staff at two North Lanarkshire secondary schools have been advised not to drink the tap water, following the discovery of  an alarming discolouration, which has turned the water blue.

The issue first came to light three years ago, but tests show it has returned.

The warning was issued after the council ordered tests, which showed high levels of copper.

Experts say this may be a result of corroded water piping.

Staff noticed the drinking water had a bright blue tinge and alerted authorities in September last year, and tests were carried out the following month.

The council has sought consultation from The Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland (DWQR)
