Glasgow Warriors Rory Hughes announced for six nations team
Glasgow Warriors wing player Rory Hughes has been announced as part of the Six Nations Scotland squad ahead of the opening game against Italy this weekend.
Hughes, who won his last cap against Australia in June 2017, recently returned to play after spending the last 18 months on the side-lines. He currently holds four caps.
Three more Glasgow players – centre Alex Dunbar, lock Rob Harley and flanker Matt Smith – have also been released.
Wing Lee Jones sustained a knee injury in the Warriors’ 9-3 win over Ospreys last Friday, while Smith injured his shoulder.
Glasgow centre Stafford McDowall and Edinburgh scrum-half Henry Pygros have also been brought into the team for the Six Nations opener this weekend.
McDowell, 20, has previously represented Scotland at Under-20 level but has only played eight senior games for Glasgow.
Pygros has been on masterly form this season from Edinburgh, after departing Glasgow last summer.
