Concerns for vulnerable pensioner missing in Arran
Extensive searches are being carried out to try to trace a vulnerable missing pensioner in Arran.
Stewart Leask was last seen by his wife at their holiday home in Whiting Bay, Arran, at around 3.45pm on Sunday.
The 70-year-old from Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, is said to have been suffering with health issues recently.
Inspector Christine Boyd said: “Stewart was last seen heading towards Glenashdale Falls with his German Shepherd dog Corrie.
“He regularly walks in the area and was expected home a short time later but he hasn’t returned.
“Mr Leask has had some health issues recently and it is very unusual for him to be away for this length of time.
“His family and police are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and well-being.
“Local officers, supported by the Coastguard helicopter and search and rescue teams, have been carrying out extensive searches to locate Mr Leask, and we would ask the public to check their sheds and outbuildings in case he has taken shelter there.
“I would urge anyone who has any information to contact officers at Lamlash police office or Irvine police office through 101 quoting reference number 3057 of February 3.”
Aryshire Police put out a tweet urging for information: “Can you help us trace 70 year-old Stewart Leask who is missing from his home in Arran?
“Searches and enquiries are continuing to trace him. Please call Arran / Irvine through 101 quoting reference number 3057 of 3rd February.”
