May’s meaningful vote to take place tomorrow
Theresa May seems on the brink of another humiliating Brexit vote defeat amid attempts to find a breakthrough with the EU.
Downing Street have confirmed the meaningful vote will go ahead tomorrow, after fears the Prime Minister would pull it.
A spokesperson says the government’s motion would be published later today.
According to Downing Street, Westminster is in a “deadlock” in Brexit negotiations.
Tory Brexiteers have said defeat is “inevitable” unless the Prime Minister is able to secure significant changes to the Northern Ireland backstop.
Mrs May’s first meaningful vote was resoundingly defeated in January by 230 votes.
