Crowd Justice target met as father challenges music tuition fees in schools
A father from Ayrshire has successfully crowdfunded a challenge to music tuition fees in schools.
Ralph Riddiough, a solicitor and partner at Ayr firm Kilpatrick & Walker believes the fees are “pricing children out of part of the curriculum”.
Supporters were invited to pledge money through a crowd justice page, which has now raised over £15,000 – enough to launch the legal action.

Ralph took to his twitter page last night to thank supporters, saying: “Initial target met. Let the hard work commence.”

Campaigners believe tuition fees block some less well off pupils from successfully learning a musical instrument at school, and in turn can prevent them from going on to study music at university.
Some councils charge parents up to £500 a year for musical tuition.
High profile violinist Nicola Benedetti has previously come out in support of the movement.
