Scottish Greens pledge to end Brexit

The Scottish Greens launched their manifesto for the European elections on Tuesday morning.

They pledge a “Green New Deal” for Europe and their “Hope Over Hate” slogan aims to connect the UK to the mainland via high-speed trains to reduce air pollution.

Patrick Harvey, party co-convenor, said that “some of the old traditional established parties are themselves failing to counter the far-right populist threat.

“It is Greens in many parts of Europe who have been successful in that.”

Maggie Chapman, party co-convenor, says that even if the Greens only have one seat, they can still make a difference.

She said: “We have committed to join the family of European green parties.

“If Scotland only elects one MEP, it won’t only be that one green voice operating in isolation in the European Parliament.

“That one green voice will be part of a whole family of green parties and we know that those green parties across Europe have the same message.”
