Holyrood discusses maintaining Scotland’s “influence” with EU
In the wake of Brexit the best way for Scottish ministers to deal with European Union nations will be discussed at Holyrood.
New inquiries have been launched by the European Committee’s MSPs to find out the best way for engaging in matters with other countries.
These inquiries will oversee the work done by the hub offices opened by the Scottish Government in Berlin, Brussels, London, Dublin and Paris.
Committee convener Joan McAlpine explained the inquiry was about “the role the Scottish Government needs to take in maintaining and enhancing Scotland’s influence with the EU and the rest of the world.”
The Scottish Government’s international operations will also be the key point of the inquiry which will look at the work of its offices in Beijing, Ottawa, Toronto and Washington DC.
