GoFundMe target almost reached thanks to friends of sarcoma sufferer
An innovative online shop has helped a cancer sufferer raise money for life saving treatment.
The enterprise, Scott’s Helping Hand, sells donations of artwork and sculptures, and all proceeds go towards the GoFundMe page of Scott Stinson.
Stinson, 25, who lost his right arm and shoulder to Sarcoma cancer last year, says any further treatment from the NHS will be life-extending only.
He said: “I have thoroughly researched potential curative options and I will be pursuing private drugs and treatments [that are] licensed in other countries.”
The group of entrepreneurs, who are friends of Scott, have degrees in marketing, PR and design, and are striving to supplement Scott’s GoFundMe campaign with a target of £120,000 for the treatment.
British and Irish artists have come together to support Scott’s Helping Hand and the venture has helped Scott to raise £115,000 in just over a month.
Siobhan McDade, Senior Brand and Marketing Manager at Jungle Creations and co-founder of Scott’s Helping Hand, said: “Scott is a dear friend of ours and we didn’t take a second thought before galvanising our network into creating something memorable that would contribute to Scott’s fundraising campaign.
“The store has been created with Scott’s zest for life and wicked sense of humour at the heart of it – we hope people can take a little slice of that home with their purchase.”
Regarding the vast amount of money he has managed to raise in such a short space of time, Scott said: “I’ve been blown away by the generosity of artists who have donated such beautiful and lovingly-created items to our store.
“I hope that people can take home something brilliant whilst contributing to our campaign.”
Artists who have donated their creations to Scott’s Helping Hand include: Katy Moore (@StuffwithPrints), Tessa Maudlin, Claire Barclay, Megan Wood, Esme Shalyer-Webb, Alex Purcell, Jess Bird, Dominic Eardley, Robyn Wade, Catch Rhys Jones and Stacey Jones.
