Council seek local views to improve George Square
Glasgow City Council hope to improve George Square through the opinions of local people.
A workshop was held in the south side of the city to gather people’s views on the future of one of Glasgow’s biggest attractions.
Council consultants asked people to tell them their opinions on the current state of the square and what they want to happen with it in the future.
Participants were told that ‘nothing was off limits’ when it came to suggestions on how to improve the square.
From the meeting, people wanted to see an expansion to the current land, potentially taking over some of the road space that surrounds it.
The position of statues, trees and green areas were questioned along with the condition of the walking surfaces.
Comments and suggestions from the workshops will be reported back to the council before any sort of action is taken.
The next workshop will be held at 231 George Street on Wednesday, 23 October at 5.30pm.
