Appeal for witness in Hope Street Attack

Police Scotland have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist them in an investigation into a serious assault.

The attack took place on Hope Street at around 6.15pm on Wednesday September 11, which resulted in a man rushed to hospital and needing treatment.

Greater Glasgow Police Officers are appealing for a man seen near the scene to come forward and for anyone with any information to let the police know.

The witness is described as a slim white male with short dark hair wearing an orange jumper, blue coloured jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Detective Constable Mark Soutter of Glasgow CID said: “As part of our ongoing inquiries we’re eager to identify and trace the man pictured and would ask anyone who can help us to get in touch as soon as possible.”

The appeal comes amid a series of assaults throughout Glasgow City Centre. Similar assaults took place on Cochrane Street and Union Street, with appeals launched concurrently.

Police released CCTV photos of a man involved in the Union Street assault, and are asking for any information in the Cochrane Street attack.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 3183 of 26th September 2019. Alternatively an anonymous report can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
