Scotland names squad for Six Nations
Nick Haining will make his Scotland debut on Saturday after Gregor Townsend named his first side since the World Cup ahead of the opening game of the Natwest Six Nations.
The Scots are in Dublin to face Ireland aiming for their first win in the Irish capital since 2010.
Edinburgh’s Haining is the only uncapped player in Townsend’s squad as the Scotland coach makes ten changes to the side that were knocked out the World Cup by Japan in October.
Finn Russell does not feature in the 23 man squad after breaching team protocol
Scotland are aiming to improve on their fifth place finish in last year’s championship.
It’s Andy Farrell first game in charge of Ireland and he has made five changes to Joe Schmidt’s last side that were beaten by New Zealand in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
The last meeting between the two saw Ireland win 27-3 at the World Cup last autumn.
