Suspensions for Jones and Edmundson after covid breaches.
Rangers have suspended both Jordan Jones and George Edmundson after it was revealed the players attended a private gathering outside their households.
Both players are now self-isolating for 14 days on the advice of the Ibrox club’s doctor Mark Waller, with an internal investigation pending.
Manager Steven Gerrard is yet to comment directly, but in a club statement made earlier today, managing director Stewart Robertson stated that the club is “completely aligned in our action and the standards that are being set at Rangers.”
Robertson continued: “The Chairman Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Steven Gerrard and I discussed this matter as soon as it was brought to our attention.
“We will not tolerate behaviour that does not follow those standards and it is totally unacceptable for any of our players to be involved in anything that puts at risk the excellent protocols that have been put in place at Rangers.”
Neither Jones nor Edmundson made an appearance for the light blues at Rugby Park on Sunday, where they defeated Kilmarnock 1-0.
The news comes just hours after Rangers announced their partnership with Mondelēz International, the owner of Cadbury.
The partnership will have a direct focus on the Rangers Charity Foundation as Britain’s favourite chocolate company aims to give back to the Glasgow community.
