A Met Office yellow weather warning for snow is due to come into force across most of mainland Scotland.

It is in place from 6pm on Thursday night until midday on Sunday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for most of mainland Scotland.

Drivers are being warned they could face long delays, with buses and trains also potentially facing cancellations.

Residents across Scotland are also being told to prepare for interruptions to power supplies and other services like gas and mobile phone coverage.

Heavier snow showers are expected to fall in northern and central parts of Scotland during the weekend.

An amber weather warning is in place north of the central belt throughout most of Saturday.
