Top 4 St. Patrick’s Day Activities

Despite Glasgow council not having anything official on for this year’s St. Patrick’s day, there are still plenty of pubs and festivities to attend across the city to celebrate Glasgow’s iconic links to the isle of Eire!

Here are some suggestions on what to do:

A pint at Waxy O’Connors

Enjoy a delicious pint and a warm Irish welcome as soon as you get off at Glasgow Queen Street by heading into Waxy O’Connors across this St Patrick’s weekend. A pint of Guinness will set you back around £4, however there is plenty of live music to enjoy as well as the Six Nations Rugby between Scotland and Ireland this Saturday which deserves to be watched in one of Glasgow’s best rugby pubs. Waxy’s consists of 6 bars across 3 floors ensuring you never have to wait too long for a drink or a meal and will have the regular traditional Irish band playing on Sunday night.

One night in Dublin at the pavilion

Theatre fans are in for a treat as one of the best Irish tribute band plays at the Pavilion Theatre tonight (17th March) providing songs of Ireland and plenty of craic too. Featuring Irish tribute band, the Wild Murphy’s, who will be playing famous tunes such as The Wild Rover, Dirty Old Town, and Whiskey in the Jar for all to enjoy for almost 2 hours. Tickets are still available and priced at £23 with the show beginning at 7:30pm, with the performance being all seated for spectators. The bars are also closed during the performances but will re-open during intervals.

St Patrick’s festival at Malones for the full weekend

Another great pub to visit this St Patrick’s weekend is Malones who are set to have plenty of festivities on including a street party, plenty of live music both inside and outside, and even some Irish BBQ food. Located down Sauchiehall Lane, the street is set to be packed so a £5 entry fee is in place for St Patrick’s night and Saturday night while free entry returns for Friday. Just like Waxy’s, all Six Nations will be shown on massive screens throughout Saturday and the party will carry on well into the early hours of the morning as closing time is at 3am. Sunday is certainly not a wind down as the drinks keep flowing with yet another 3am close but this time with free entry.

Bamboo/Kokomo/Garage

Glasgow’s nightlife scene certainly does not disappoint when it comes to celebrating the patron saint of Ireland as many of the nightclubs have multiple drink promos and activities throughout the night. Bamboo is offering £1.50 drink deals with luck of the Irish pots as well as Guinness hats with a 5am close. Kokomo is staying like Bamboo with the same drink deals and the same closing time, meanwhile The Garage is taking their own spin on the festivities by creating a Guinness and VK mix nicknamed the ‘Irish Turbo’ for the price of £5. The Garage is also offering discounted entry for those wearing green as well as putting on confetti cannons, gold card and hat giveaways, and the usual bouncy castle seen midweek.
