Scotland welcomes Super Bowl LVII

This weekend will see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their third Superbowl final in 4 years.

The teams will face each other in Arizona on Sunday, with kick off at 4.30pm local time and 11.30pm in the UK.

There is just one point in the spread between the two teams, promising fans a close game.

Cameron Hobbs from the Stramash podcast highlights some stand out stars of the game.

“Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs who already has a Superbowl and is on his way to the hall of fame. He is still young but has a great career ahead of him. One of the Greatest we have ever seen play the game.

“He is up against Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles, yet to win a Superbowl himself but he has had a great season.”

Many bars in Scotland are preparing for the event this Sunday, offering late opening and half time treats.

This will not be the only American Football game that infiltrates Scottish TV screens this year, as the East Kilbride Pirates are favorites to reach the Britbowl later this year.

The team lifted their first British trophy in September, for the first time in eleven years.

The sport is gaining great popularity in Scotland, according to Mr Hobbs.

“The game has never been so popular in Scotland. If you have a look at the number of Superbowl parties in the cities across Scotland, most of these are in locations that are making it ticketed events and a lot of them are selling out.

“This game is in huge demand and the growth of the game is absolutely massive.”

Glasgow sports bar, Walkabout, is operating a ticketed event, where they will show the game in full and offer American styled half-time snacks.

Rhianna has been confirmed to headline the half time show, for her first live appearance since her Anti tour in 2016.

She is speculated to be joined by Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, with Sky Bet offering odds of 4/7 upon his appearance.
