First Bus increase fares in Glasgow

First Bus have announced they are increasing their fares within the Glasgow Network from the start of next month.

The new fares will apply from the 2nd of April.

A single journey has increased by eight %, now starting at £1.95. A day ticket is £5.40 up from £4.90.

Duncan Cameron, First Bus Scotland managing Director said: “Like so many other transport providers, we’re facing significant rising costs across our operations, and fare increases reflect that.

Nonetheless, we have strived to keep increases to a minimum – and below the Consumer Price Inflation wherever we can.”

Bus users are unhappy about the increase on the transport system.

Priya Virdi, student said: “I know everything is going up in the world but it’s a pain. I’m not working at the moment so its more debt for me now.”

The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) say that outgoings for bus operators have risen by 23% since 2019.
