IRN-BRU launch its first energy drink PWR-BRU
The brand behind IRN-BRU has announced the launch of its first energy drink range, PWR-BRU.
Lanarkshire drinks chain, AG Barr, has confirmed the Scottish launch for the 28th of August.
The 500ml cans are set to arrive on shelves in four flavours, “Origin”, “Diablo Cherry”, “Maverick Berry” and “Dropkick Tropical”.
All flavours have essence of IRN-BRU along with caffeine, taurine and B-Vitamins, to increase energy levels.
AG Barr said it has assessed all options to ensure the launch is not affected by the ongoing driver strikes
The first of nine consecutive delivery driver walkouts began last week and are expected to continue until the 6th of October.
A spokesperson for the brand said: “We have contingency plans in place to maintain customer service and we’re not anticipating there to be any impact on the availability of our new PWR-BRU drink.
“There are around 1,000 pallets despatched to customers from the Cumbernauld site each day and we expect this level of service to be maintained.”
Ahead of official launch, AG Barr has also planted “Scan for a Can” QR codes across Glasgow.
These codes can be scanned to enter a draw to try PWR-BRU before the official launch at the end of August.
Clues on where to find the codes have been released on PWR-BRU’s social channels.
Annette Yates, Head of Brand at PWR-BRU, said: “PWR-BRU is a combination of the unique personality of IRN-BRU and a bold new approach to energy drinks.
“It’s one of the biggest launches ever from the family behind IRN-BRU and we think fans of energy drinks are going to enjoy adding a PWR-BRUst to their day.”
