Abandoned flats to be used to house the homelessness

Glasgow City Council has planned a compulsory purchase order (CPO) for an abandoned flat at 221 Alison street.

The flat is set to be bought by the council and later resold to a housing association to house homeless people.

The Allison Street flat has lay empty since 1999. It was found unoccupied and in poor condition.

Jon Molyneux, the councillor for Govan, said: “The council is working with housing associations across the city to find properties to transform and repurpose from the state of despair that they are in.”

Other abandoned properties in Yorkhill and Provanhill are also set to be purchased by the council to house the homelessness.
