£100k pledged to Glasgow based charities
A number of Glasgow based charities have been allocated £100k in funds, to address critical issues within the city.
These funds have been provided by the Merchants House of Glasgow, an organisation who provide support for projects and charities in the West of Scotland.
Included in the fund are a charity supporting people with epilepsy and another who aid children with cystic fibrosis.
Community-led charity Refuweegee, who support refugees in Glasgow also received £5,000.
Fundraising Manager, Ruth Ogston said: “We welcome everyone arriving in Scotland who has been forcibly displaced, to try make stable, happy lives here in Glasgow.
“What they’re (Merchants House) doing is supporting our work and trusting us.
“In the coming months our priority is to build our number of trusts and foundations supporting us.”
These funds will be allocated to the charities drive to provide basic living necessities for refugees.
Epilepsy Scotland are also receiving £3,500 to their aid their work with young people.
Lesslie Young, Chief Executive said: “It’s improved skills and all the things that go around having a diagnosis that has a significant impact on them.
“The work that this money will support is crucial, because we walk these young people and their families through this process and give both as much independence as we can.”
Other charities within the programme include The Leanne Fund SCIO, as the Merchants House continues their work within the city.
