Queen’s Park and Dunfermline in race to sign St Johnstone’s Chris Kane on loan

Queen’s Park and Dunfermline Athletic are in the lead to snatch up St Johnstone striker Chris Kane on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has received bids from the two Scottish Championship clubs due to a lack of playing time at the Saints.

Kane hasn’t been able to feature in any of St Johnstone’s games since Craig Levein replaced Steven MacLean as manager last November.

The exclusive from The Courier explains that it’s now up to the striker to decide where he will play for the rest of the season.

The striker joined the club through their academy and made his debut against Kilmarnock in November 2013.

Since then, he has scored 37 goals and bagged 21 assists for the Perth side.

Kane signed a new deal last summer but has struggled to feature in the main team after the mid-season break.

Ex-Saints boss Callum Davidson is hoping to get his number-one striker back into his dressing room at the Spiders.

Kane was a crucial part of the Saints’ historic double-cup-winning season under Davidson in 2021.

Dunfermline are a side who are struggling for goals this season as the Pars currently sit ninth in the Scottish Championship with 24 goals in 22 games.

The East End Park club played Queen’s Park on Saturday which resulted in a 3-0 away win for the Glasgow side.

Kane is a suitable and experienced option for both clubs, but as reported, he will have the final say.
