Scottish bakery featured on popular BBC show

A family-owned shop “couldn’t be prouder” to appear on the BBC.

Helmi’s, a popular bakery with locations across Scotland, was delighted to be featured on the latest instalment of BBC2’s Hairy Bikers Go West.

In last week’s episode Dave Myers and Si King visited the Isle of Bute where Majd, one of the shops bakers, prepared their star treats for the pair.

The first Helmi’s in Rothsay was opened by Syrian refugees Mohamed and Tasnim who fled Syria to the Isle of Bute during the war, which was described on the programme as something “really special” by the Hairy Bikers

Helmi’s showed off their handmade desserts, a trio of tarts, which the bikers described as “a wonderful fusion of culture and taste.”

The bakery took to Instagram to announce their appearance saying “I am so glad the secret is finally out. If you missed it, check the iPlayer for our latest adventure: when Majd baked for the Hairy Bikers.”

Many fans of Helmis expressed their pride in the bakery’s television feature in their comments with one user saying “Well done! A brilliant advertisement for you, the cakes and pastries looked delicious.”

Another said “Recognition well deserved. Such a hidden gem.”

You can watch the full episode on BBC iPlayer.
