Shania Twain set for return to Scotland this year following Summer Sessions announcement

The award-winning singer will be supported by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man on 2 July at the event which will be held for the first time in the historic city, near Stirling Castle.

International country star Shania Twain has been named as the final act to take to the main stage at this year’s Stirling Summer Sessions.

The Canadian artist will perform at the Scottish festival at Stirling City Park alongside earlier announced headliners Busted and Tom Jones.

Shania had most recently played at the Hydro last September, but the Stirling gig is currently her only confirmed Scottish date this year.

Thomas Hutchison, 29, a Shania Twain fan from Falkirk, attended two out of the three nights the superstar performed in Glasgow last year.

He said: “My whole family love country music, and we went altogether to see her last year.

“Our family group chat’s been blowing up all morning. We’ll definitely be going. We’ve been non-stop going back and forth making plans, and it was only announced a few hours ago!”

Fans were elated with the announcement as they shared their excitement on social media site X.

One user wrote: “Who doesn’t love Shania Twain? She is so talented. Love her music.”

Another said: “Shania Twain in Stirling? Who would’ve thought it. That’s my summer made!”

Its the first year the iconic festival, which also takes place in Glasgow and Edinburgh, is coming to Stirling.

Hollie Gardiner, 36, from Bannockburn, said: “I’m a huge music fan and love a lot of different genres. I’m a regular festival go-er so I was buzzing when I found out Summer Sessions would be held so close to home for me.

“But the announcement this morning about Shania Twain is insane. She’s an icon, and to think she’ll be performing in my home city is mental. I didn’t manage to see her at Glasgow last year, so you best believe I’ll be clearing my calendar for this July. I’ve already signed up to the pre-sale.”

Fans can buy tickets via pre-sale on Thursday and general sale on Friday at summersessions.co.uk.
