Glasgow pizzeria takes top spot in UK restaurant study
A Glasgow pizzeria, Paesano Pizza, has been reported by Glasgow Live as taking the top spot in a Betway study of the Top 10 pizza spots in the UK.
The authentic Neapolitan pizza place, on Miller Street, opened in 2015 and has been perfecting their recipes ever since.
The study uncovered the nation’s favourite pizzerias by the number of hashtags a restaurants gains, and an analysis of their reviews.
Paesano’s Pizza listed an overall index of 6, with Noi Quattro Pizzeria in Manchester coming in second place with an index of 8.
Owner Paul Stevenson said: “I am very pleased with the result and it is nice for staff to get the accolade.”
Mr Stevenson, also owner of the Sauchiehall street restaurant and Sugo Pasta, previously owned a few Italian restaurants, but moved away from “generic” food to specialising in Neapolitan pizza.
“We work hard to maintain the quality and authenticity of our products,” he added.
The cheese for the products is delivered to the restaurant twice a week from Italy, and the chefs prove the dough for their pizzas for 36 hours to make sure it is of the best quality.
Looking to the future, Mr Stevenson is hoping to expand the chain out of Glasgow. However, the new premises needs to fit the vibe of the chain’s current establishments.
“Paesano’s and Sugo’s are in ‘cool’ buildings. We have agents come forward but shopping centres don’t fit the brand,” Mr Stevenson explained.
“I don’t want to expand if the place isn’t right.”
Glasgow appeared a second time in the list with Lamora Pizzeria taking the tenth place.
