Popular cosmetics store plunged into administration
Major retailer collapses into administration putting Glasgow stores at risk.
The Body Shop, a skincare and cosmetics retailer founded by the late environmental and human rights campaigner Anita Roddick in 1976, filed for a notice to appoint administrators on Monday, 12 February.
Across 200 UK stores, 2,000 jobs are at risk, however, branches are thought to be staying open as usual for the time being.
Administrators, FRP Advisory, are currently considering the different options facing the company going forward.
The Body Shop has stores in Glasgow in Glasgow Central Station, the St Enoch Centre, Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow Fort and Braehead shopping centre.
This news comes less than three months after the cosmetics chain was purchased by the German firm, Aurelius, for £207m.
