Scots seek medals at World Athletics Indoor Championships
With eyes on the prize, three Scottish athletes have been named as members of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the upcoming World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
Medal hopefuls Laura Muir, Josh Kerr, and Jemma Reekie will represent the nation on home turf next month.
Reekie was included after winning gold in the 800m at the UK Championships in Birmingham on Sunday.
Finishing with a time of 1:58.24, Reekie set a championship record as she ramps up her chase of a first senior international victory.
The 25-year-old will be eyeing a medal upon her homecoming, after finishing fifth at the World Championships in Budapest.
Meanwhile, Olympic silver medalist Laura Muir also won gold in Birmingham, securing her position for the 3,000m event in Glasgow.
Muir said: “It is very special for me to be there at the first global champs Scotland has hosted.
“The new training group and new programme has been challenging after 12 years but it is going really well.
“I am very excited to see what I can do in Glasgow and it is a big stepping stone on the road to Paris.”
The duo will be joined by Josh Kerr, who will compete in the 3000m event at the Emirates Arena.
