Glasgow charity closes after 40 years of service
A Glasgow Charity organisation has announced that it will be closing down after 41 years of service.
Right Track Scotland Limited stated it experienced “funding disruption”, as all remaining 20 members of staff were made redundant.
The board of the Glasgow-registered company has been placed into insolvency with William Duncan being appointed as liquidator.
The charity offered a number of activities including recreational sports and further educational training.
In a statement, Right Track said: “Since our launch in 1983, Right Track has supported young people with the most challenging of difficulties to overcome in order that they can participate positively in employment, training or further education.”
In its 2023 accounts, its income was down by £284,800 to £538,270 against the previous year.
According to the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) there was a “stark rise” in operating costs during 2022 and 2023 in the Third Sector.
Head of policy and research for SCVO Kirsten Hogg said: “If you look at the fact that there are 46 and a half thousand volunteer organisations in Scotland and nearly one in 10 of them are not sure whether they will be here in a year’s time.
“That is a really significant number of organizations and then even more significant number of individuals and communities that stand to be impacted.”
