“Dangerous cladding on buildings in Glasgow must be addressed”
A Member of Scottish Parliament, Pam Duncan-Glancy has proposed six amendments to the Scottish Cladding Bill.
The Housing (Cladding Remediation) Scotland Bill will give Scottish Ministers powers to identify and remediate risks to life posed by potentially flammable building cladding systems.
During Parliamentary proceedings today, MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy said her proposed amendment will protect house owners and occupiers, guarantee independent oversight, and put measures in place to protect disabled people.
She added that the housing cladding Bill in Scotland would allow residents in Glasgow to have a voice in the process of the single building assessment and enable them to ensure their own safety.
The MSP said she will make sure that disabled people get the right support that they need in order to be able to evacuate.
Pam Duncan-Glancy said: “We know that 41 percent of disabled people died in Grenfell and so that’s why the amendment is particularly important.”
