Real estate epidemic: Glasgow student accommodation shortage causes concern

A new report came out from Savills Estate Agents announcing the shortage of student accommodation.

Students across from Glasgow are struggling to find accommodation whilst studying at university.

Glasgow’s student population is high, and more students are eager to move to the city to experience the university lifestyle.

It is unfortunate that the cost of living and the shortage stopping students from studying in the preferred place of choice.

Jacqui Daly from Savills said: “We have housing shortages in every part of the housing market. Whether you’re living in owner occupied housing, renting housing, social housing and student housing. There are shortages everywhere in every sector”.

The Scottish Government, earlier this year introduced a rent to cap for tenants.

This was to support those who are struggling during the cost-of-living crisis.

Students are continuing to view the housing market, looking for flats or accommodation in the hope of finding a place to live.
