Historic Glasgow building ranked among most beautiful
Glasgow City Chambers has been voted the thirtieth most beautiful building in Britain.
In the ranks of building like Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament the chamber received three percent of the vote making it one of the countries prettiest buildings.
The building was designed by architect William Young in 1882, and construct was completed in 1888.
The council chamber is decked out in Spanish mahogany paneling with the windows being venetian stained glass.
Its large ornate banquet hall has played host to historic figures like Nelson Mandela and Dir Alex Ferguson.
The chambers have been featured in films like a An Englishman Abroad where it played the role of the British embassy in Moscow and more recently has been brough to our screens in the hit TV show Outlander.
