Sober October losing its agenda with more than a quarter of young people already teetotal
Sober October is upon us which is when people decide to stay off the booze whilst raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
However, figures show that less people within generation Z may be partaking this month as being tee-total has become more popular in general.
According to education charity Drinkaware, people in the UK aged between 16-24 are the least likely to drink alcohol with 26% of that age group sober.
Alyssa McKay, 21 years old from Bathgate, said: “Sober October gave me that incentive to not drink for that period of time to see how it was and after that it was a no-brainer.
“I feel so much better and have so much more time, I am no longer spending my Sundays hungover or eating rubbish due to how I was feeling.”
