New event in Glasgow encouraging people to put down their phones and have a real conversation

The world nowadays is ruled by social media platforms which keep the world more connected than ever before.

But is this hyper connectivity having a negative effect on our own personal relationships?

That Conversations Movement is addressing this.

The organisation run events with the idea that people will put down their phones and have a genuine, face to face conversation with a loved one.

The event, which is running tonight at 7pm at MILK Community Centre by Queen’s Park, encourages attendees to ask each other a series of questions with the aim of getting to know each other on a new level which has been all but lost in our current society.

Founder of the organisation, Chris Burnett said: “We live in a world where we’re all connected by social media, but it’s a little bit shallow and we need more spaces to connect face to face.

“What we’re doing is organising events that allow just that.

“You turn up with a friend, family member or partner, and you get guided through a series of conversation activities.”

That Conversation Movement have run events all over the UK for the past 15 years, and now it’s Glasgow’s turn to experience true conversation.

Tickets come on a pay what you can basis; there is an option for free tickets, or you can pay £5 or £10 per couple.

So, if you’re looking for something new outside of this increasingly digital age, this could be for you.
