Lowland League side East Kilbride are set for a memorable night of football, as they welcome Premiership hopefuls Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.

The game will be televised live on BBC Scotland, as Kilby look to defeat Championship opposition for the third time this season.

John McGlynn’s Falkirk have been the surprise package of the second-tier this campaign, shooting up to the top of the table and looking to make it two promotions on the bounce after winning League One unbeaten in 2023-24.

Kilby meanwhile, sit second in the Lowland League, with two games in hand on Celtic B, and have already beaten Championship sides Airdrieonians and Ayr United in recent months.

Manager Mick Kennedy has experience in Scottish Cup upsets, famously guiding sixth-tier Darvel to a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen in 2023 in one of the tournaments biggest giant killings.

Steven Sullivan, East Kilbride supporter liaison officer, said: “It’ll be a massive game. Obviously the Celtic game [2016] was huge but it wasn’t played in East Kilbride.

This game’s at K-Park, on TV, it’s definitely something that’ll put us on the map.

There’s a buzz on social media, people in the town are talking about it, and you’re seeing new faces you don’t normally see buying tickets.

It’s definitely doing more to get us recognised.”

In 2016, the South Lanarkshire side took on Celtic in a televised Scottish Cup game at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie, but despite a spirited performance they were defeated 2-0 thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths and Colin Kazim-Richards.

EK were Lowland League champions last season, but were defeated by Stranraer in the League Two playoffs.

The game will kick off at 7.45 on Monday 2 December, at K-Park.
