Rangers Appeal- Clement frustrated after Diomande sent off in away win

Rangers have appealed midfielder Mohammed Diomande’s straight red card he was given in Sundays 3-1 victory against Dundee United at Tannadice.

Rangers number 10 was involved in a scuffle in stoppage time with United’s Kevin Holt.

Dundee United took the lead in the game, with a long throw causing a soft Rangers defence issue’s, allowing an in-form Sam Dalby to stab a close-range effort home.

Despite the early setback, Rangers found their feet and equalised before half time as Diomande himself found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

In the second half, the Ibrox side really stamped their authority, as goals from Robin Pröpper and Cyriel Dessers put to rest any questions of Rangers’ away form.

However, the Gers’ win was soured towards the end of the game, as Diomande saw red for a ‘deliberate swing of his arm’ towards United midfielder Holt.

If the red card stands, Diomande would be available for Rangers final Europa League group stage outing against Union-Saint Gilloise but would miss the next domestic game against Ross County on the 2nd of February.

Rangers face the Belgian outfit this Thursday as they look to book their place in the Europa League round of 16.
