Scottish travel seriously affected by storm Eowyn

Three days after storm Eowyn, the public are still dealing with train and bus delays ahead of the working week. Scotrail have cancelled many trains and closed routes completely due to damages and debris fallen on the tracks.
Over 10 train routes are still cancelled or terminating before their final destination, with reports of more than 150 fallen trees and around 500 other storms related incidents. Scotrail have said that for more affected parts of the country there will not be a “quick fix”.
This means for the next few weeks many people will continue to face delays and have to use other forms of transport to commute to and from work.
Many areas are already seeing reports of buses being busier than usual and having to deny passengers entry due to the overcrowding. First Bus have been facing a nation-wide driver and vehicle shortage for many months now, which will make it hard to add any additional busses to these routes.
Other hired bus companies such as stagecoach or Caledonian travel will see an uptake in business due to these closures as Scot rail have announced that many routes will have a bus replacement to help relieve stress from cancellations and delays.
Commuters are urged to plan ahead.
