Glasgow Southside road stays shut days after pipe burst


Pollockshaw road in Shawlands still remains closed after a water pipe burst on Saturday the 1st February. The popular Glasgow southside route was flooded over the weekend. The incident caused chaos in nearby areas as around 6,500 homes were left without water. The flood reached over one kilometer stretch of road.
Scottish Water are prioritising getting the situation back to normal and reopening the roads and they have apologized to residents. Local residents say that it was a big disruption as they could not get access to clean water, the water was discoloured have low or no pressure. Local people couldn’t travel as the roads were completely flooded and public transport had to be cancelled. Many people could not travel to work or school this morning as the road closures carried on into the new week.
While the road remains closed there are diversions and buses are being diverted also while the road is being repaired. The road closure is between the junctions with Maxwell road and Albert Drive. Scottish water are working hard to resolve the ongoing issues on the popular road.
