Motherwell FC Condemn Racist Online Attack

Motherwell Football Club have condemned a racist social media comment aimed at the North Lanarkshire club’s right-back, Marvin Kaleta.
The 20-year-old defender was reportedly attacked on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) following the Steelmen’s 3-1 defeat against league leaders Celtic at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon.
The game which was expected to be focused on the second debut of the Celtic forward, Jota, was marred by reports of the racist comment made against the former Manchester City Prospect who was substituted due to injury in the 38th minute.
The comment, which has now been deleted from the platform, allegedly referred to the Englishman as a racial slur and has been referred to the relevant authorities who are working to identify the individual.
In a statement, Motherwell FC said: “The club is aware of the racist abuse towards a Motherwell player on social media this afternoon. We will investigate this fully and work with authorities to identify the individual.
Motherwell Football Club condemns any form of racist abuse towards anyone. This kind of behaviour has no place in football or society.”
Celtic FC and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
