National Pizza Day: Glasgow restaurants LGBTQ+ inspired celebrations

PHILLY CHEESESTEAK: One of Nonna Said’s quirky toppings

With Burns Day out of the way it’s time to focus on another food fuelled celebration with National Pizza Day this Sunday 9th February.

Glasgow’s not shy of options when searching for the perfect slice, but one restaurant in the heart of Merchant City are hosting a pizza party with a twist.

Nonna Said has been a go-to for locals since opening their doors in 2021. Their dog friendly, all inclusive, alternative vibe, complete with retro arcade games and a Photo Booth, have helped establish themselves as one of the city’s top pizzerias.

In collaboration with events company Sapphic Socials, Nonna Said are celebrating this National Pizza Day with an LGBTQ+ inspired pizza party. The ticketed event, which includes your Neapolitan style pizza and beverage, hopes to create a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community to come together and bond over shared love for the beloved Italian dish.

Sky Orsini, General Manager, wants the event to showcase Nonna Said’s inclusiveness:

You should be able to feel comfortable and safe regardless of where you go, and having these types of events shows that there’s people willing to create spaces to make a minority feel comfortable and at home.”

It’s set to be a great chance for guests to mingle with new faces, enjoy a game or two, and of course, indulge in some of the city’s finest pizza’s.
