Ukraine tension grows as Scotland’s Trump visit guaranteed

Donald Trump has announced he will pause military aid to Ukraine after a heated argument with the country’s president Volodymyr Zylenskyy.

The 47th president of the United States clashed with the wartime leader in the Oval Office alongside Vice President JD Vance.

The disagreement comes after Keir Starmer’s meet with the US leader involved an unprecedented detail––the passing of a letter written by King Charles inviting Trump to visit one of the royal properties in Scotland.

In the partially covered letter, King Charles wrote that meeting the country’s head would “further enhance the special relationship between our two countries”.

A president in their second term is generally invited to lunch at Windsor Castle, making Trump the first to receive this invitation.

Scotland holds just over a tenth of the over 250,000 Ukranian refugees in the UK.

Scottish First Minister John Swinney said in a statement to Holyrood that the presidential stopover should proceed if it has the chance to “solidify US support for Ukraine”.

Green’s Co-Leader Patrick Harvey said: “Trump is not a friendly leader and should not be treated as if he was.

“The threat Trump represents to global security, to democracy, to human rights and to our climate could not be clearer.”
