Power cut at Glasgow gig venue cancels two weekend shows

By Robbie Wilson

A power cut at the SWG3 in Glasgow cancelled two shows on Sunday evening, including a DJ event and a homecoming gig for a Scottish band.

The venue, located between Partick and Kelvinhaugh, suffered a power outage at around 20:25pm whilst two events were on. DJ Max Dean was playing the Galvanizers room and VUKOVI performing in the TV Studio room.

Fans from both events were evacuated from the building and told to wait outside until further notice, according to fans on X, staff had “no clue what was going on.”

One fan, Calum Godon, who was attending the rave, said that it the night turned sour after the first two DJ sets.

“20/25 minutes into his [Max Dean] set, the power just completely went, security told us to wait outside and we waited for 10 minutes for them to come out and say that the power wasn’t coming back on. Seems FLY aren’t going to reschedule the event or refund tickets.”

Triple G Events say that they are working hard with VUKOVI and SWG3 to; “find a new date for the show in the near future and we ask, where possible, that you keep hold of your tickets for the rescheduled date.”

The G3 area was affected overall, with fans attending the Teddy Swims event having to find alternative travel routes as trains to the OVO Hydro were being cancelled due to the outage too.
