Elon Musk would let Donald Trump back on Twitter

1 min read

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will undo Donald Trump’s permanent ban if his bid to purchase Twitter is successful

. The 50-year-old made a $44b offer to acquire the social media platform earlier this month.

When asked whether the controversial ex-President would be given back his platform in an interview with Financial Times, Musk expressed his belief that the decision to ban Trump after the January 6 Capitol attack was “not correct”.

Musk went even further later in his answer, calling the ban a “morally bad decision” as he believed it “alienated a large part of the country” and “didn’t take away Trump’s voice”.

Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO at the time when Trump’s ban was issued, showed Musk his support online, calling permanent bans on Twitter “a failure”.

When asked at a press conference, the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called it a “decision by a private sector company to make,” making it unlikely for the government to interfere.
