Rangers: SWPL gap stretches after Celtic slip up
Rangers have widened the gap at the top of the SWPL after rivals Celtic faltered to a 1-0 loss against Glasgow City.
The Celts, although above City in the table, weren’t able to overcome conceding a strike on just 16 seconds from Fiona Brown.
That was all the action to be had, as Leanne Ross’ side clung onto their early lead to ensure that goal meant victory.
A Celtic slip up allowed Rangers to take full advantage as they laboured to a 2-1 win over an out of form Aberdeen side.
Wales international Rachel Rowe netted twice in just eight minutes for the Ibrox side to secure victory over Aberdeen on Saturday.
Despite Bayley Hutchinson grabbing a goal back for the Dons, they were unable to overturn the Rowe-inflicted two goal deficit.
Jo Potter’s side currently sit six points clear of Celtic at the summit, maintaining their unbeaten record in the league.
Rangers have won their last 16 matches, including a recent 10-0 demolition of Dundee United.
To find the last time the Glasgow side lost a match, you would have to go as far back as May last year – when Glasgow City defeated Rangers 1-0.
