Scottish former tennis world champion, Andy Murray, jokingly congratulated Taylor Swift for winning the 58th Superbowl, after the amount of attention she brought to the iconic game and previous matches during the season thanks to her high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.

The Kansas City Chiefs took on the San Francisco 49ers last night at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday and emerged victorious, winning the game 25-22, after initially going down 0-3.

However, it was Taylor Swift who hit the headlines, as the Grammy award winner was frequently featured on screen celebrating her new man’s third Superbowl victory.

Since the beginning of their relationship in September 2023, the NFL has been keen to promote the games in which the ‘Midnights’ pop singer has been attending due to her 281 million Instagram followers of ‘Swifties’.

The relationship has brought a lot of new fans to the sport with cameras regularly cutting to her reaction of what’s happening and fans even counted down how long it would take for her to fly to Las Vegas from Tokyo to see if she would be able to attend the Superbowl, this saw her being labelled as a “Good luck charm” and “the 12th man on the pitch.”

Sir Andy Murray took to ‘X’, formerly ‘Twitter’, to get in on the joke, posting: “Congratulations to @taylorswift13 on winning Super Bowl 58. A stunning performance.”

This saw fans of Sport and Swifties come together to share a laugh with the two-time Wimbledon champion and share their excitement over the games result.

One user posted: “Yessss Andy!!! Andy is a Swiftie!”

Another laughed: “Sir that was cute and funny. What a thriller of a game, Go Tay Tay! Keep enjoying the game. You’ve introduced a lot of new fans to the game and hope they enjoyed it too.”

A final user hailed: “Andy Murray, champion, all round good bloke, cracking SOH (Sense of Humour), also… Great TWEETS.”

Murray is known for his dry Scottish sense of humour on the app, with many posts frequently going viral, including a post on October 7 2023 in which he poked fun at Scottish food such as Irn Bru compared to Chinese food which amassed four thousand likes and 1.1M views.
