Stagecoach has been ranked the top transport operator in the UK for addressing climate change.

The UK’s largest bus and coach operator has achieved an ‘A–‘ from the Carbon Disclosure Project, which is significantly higher than the average ‘D’ rating in the road transport sector.

The A- rating is given when an organisation implements the best practice on climate issues.

This new rating places Stagecoach in the top 6% of businesses participating in the Road Transport group.

Health, safety and environment director of Stagecoach, Sharon Vye-Parminter said: “We’re thrilled to be awarded an ‘A-‘ rating by the Carbon Disclosure Project this year. It recognises a lot of hard work and investment across our business to improve our environmental performance.

“Our progress in delivering our ambitious sustainability strategy will help to ensure that public transport continues to play a vital role in helping the country to achieve its environmental objectives,” added Ms Vye-Parminter.
