Love lies bleeding is new thriller from director Rose Glass, and it’s UK premiere is opening the festival and will certainly excite audiences. Starring Kirsten Stewart as Lou, a reclusive gym owner who falls hard for Jackie (Katy M. O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder who’s heading to Las Vegas to pursue her dream. Their love soon leads to violence as they get pulled deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.

The dark drama Tummy Monster, by Glasgow director Ciaron Lyons is celebrating its world premiere at the festival this year. 3. Billy Connelly: Big Banana Feet

Scottish comedy icon Billy Connelly is making a welcome return to the big screen with a brand new restoration of the little-seen documentary from 1976. Lovingly restored by the BFI in collaboration with the film’s director Murray Grigor from the only two 16mm prints known to exist, this charming comedy follows Billy on his legendary 1975 tour of Ireland.

4. Falling into Place

The film has been shortlisted for the GFF24 Audience Awards – the only award handed out at Glasgow Film Festival – and given to an outstanding feature film by a first or second time director. Checking this one out is a must.

5. Janey

The festival will close on 10th March with the world premiere of Janey – documentary about Janey Godley, a Glasgow comedian.
