1 min read

The Newlands area of Glasgow’s Southside has been named one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom.

The Sunday Times Best Places annual guide announced the top areas to live across the country, with Newlands named among the Scottish regional winners on the list.

Mr and Mrs Patterson, who live in the nearby area of Giffnock, said: “There’s a lot of nice shops and cafés, we like to visit them because they make great coffee.”

Angela Muir loves living in Newlands with her friends: “We have lovely neighbours and we’ve lived here for decades. We regularly come to the park and grab a coffee.”

Many dog walkers take advantage of the heaps of green space in the area, Millie Denny said: “I get a coffee and take my dog out. It’s just a lovely walk which is good for your mental health.”

There were another five regional winners across Scotland named in the guide. These included Dundee’s west end, Dunkeld in Perthshire, East Linton in Lothian, Falkland in Fife, Kerrera in the Inner Hebrides, and Leith in Edinburgh.
